Advisory Board in focus: Teamworks Hub and the Education Workstream

The West Midlands APPG are concerned about the growing number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET), and the APPG and Advisory Board are working on a policy briefing exploring the recommendations of the upcoming Milburn Review and developing proposals for a West Midlands Baccalaureate.

A great example is the work of our Education Workstream member Simone Schehtman and the team at Teamworks Hub. Their latest Talent Finder Day, held on 13 October, welcomed more than 400 disadvantaged young people and generated over 2,300 positive outcomes, including jobs, apprenticeships, work experience opportunities, volunteering placements, training programmes and further education pathways.

The event also brought together almost 60 employers and support organisations, highlighting the power of collaboration in creating opportunities and improving social mobility across the West Midlands.

It was fantastic to see the initiative featured on BBC Politics Midlands, with contributions from APPG member Preet Kaur Gill MP and other senior political leaders from across the region.

If you'd like to learn more about the event and its impact, you can watch the feature from the 22-minute mark.
